Is it possible?

Have you ever wondered if it is possible to connect with someone telepathically? There are people who believe humans can connect to others and communicate via extrasensory means. No spoken words, no hearing, no seeing - but still receiving messages.

Let’s add another layer. What if people could communicate with other entities telepathically? What about people who have passed on? And as I learned very recently, some people can connect to entities on other planets and in other times! This is what channelers claim to do. Connect with another entity to deliver messages to this present reality.

Personally, I have always been skeptical. Skeptical and frankly, scared of the idea of telepathy and channeling. When I was young, I heard ghost stories and saw scary movies where people channeled scary things. Things that intended to hurt people, not help them. Although I’ve always had an open mind, I did not want to expose myself to something I could not control, so I always steered clear of any topics around channeling and mediumship.

What changed this for me was one key thing: when I connected to my higher self… wasn’t I telepathically communicating with something? After all, my connections to my soul / higher Self happen within me, during my prayers, sometimes meditating, sometimes throughout the day, but all within my mind. I guess higher Self / soul is a part of me but there is an aspect of connecting and communicating beyond my five senses that I wanted to explore further.

Opportunity knocks

I found that opportunity in Gaia’s Channeling Conference 2025. I am a huge fan of Gaia and have been watching their videos and online courses for 15+ years. They are a huge community that publishes content about spiritual growth, personal transformation, and so much more. So when I saw this conference dedicated to channeling, I felt compelled to attend.

I wish I could express the sensations, emotions, and energy I felt at Gaia’s Channeling Conference. The energy there was loving, expectant, supportive, affirmative, and expansive.

The audience was so excited to be there and listened with open minds and hearts. The host, Jason Liggett led curious discussions with appreciation and emotionality. And the entities we heard from were offering their knowledge to us with benevolence and wholeness in their hearts.

At this conference though, the host, channels, and entities established some important ground rules around channeling:

  • Law of non-interference - Entities that could be channeled will not force themselves on anyone. Humans have autonomy and must decide and learn for themselves.
  • Reality is ONE - The nature of existence is complex, yet simple. We are all part of the same fabric and part of existence. We are all ONE.
  • Highest good of all involved - The individuals channeling did so with the highest good of all in mind.
  • There are two individuals on stage - First, we meet the human speaker, or the channel. This person shares their experience channeling, and then steps aside when they channel and bring another entity to the forefront.

I captured my experience and key takeaways from each individual channel and entities that spoke to us during the conference in this series of blog articles. This is my personal interpretation as a member of the audience, not an employee or representative of Gaia or the speakers. My hope is that you may learn something new or remember something you forgot you knew!

Karen Bell - SARAI

Karen Bell brought levity, love, and peace to the stage. She was very friendly and smiley and even called herself a “nice Karen.” I chuckled at her sense of humor. Karen channels Sarai, who she describes as a fractal of her own Soul or Higher Self. I can really tell the difference between Karen and Sarai - their voice, mannerisms, and personality differ significantly.

you + You = Soul

Sarai explained that each of us are within a Soul and that the “you” fthat is reading this article is but one way in which your Soul has made itself manifest. There can and are multiple other ways your Soul has manifested in other times and/or dimensions! Sarai described the Soul as composed of both your little self and your big Soul Self.

This is really a novel idea because most people that believe in a soul, believe that our soul is within us (our body) somehow and that we each get one! Karen is saying that we have this backwards. Our little soul is within this huge Soul that is much more than just us. Furthermore, Sarai said that starseeds here on Earth may not feel at home here because they have parallel selves in other dimensions. In other words, starseeds here on Earth have lives that are happening at the same time, rather than before or after this one!

Sarai explained that we all have access to our higher Self or Soul, which she called Satnam - true self / identity. It does not need to be a mystery to us! And as we awaken, we may start to learn more about the other manifestations of our Soul. This will start telepathically, where we may notice words or thoughts in your mind that are not your own.

Plugging into your Higher Self

Sarai acknowledged that this may be jarring or confusing when it starts to happen - hearing foreign thoughts in your own mind. She advised that the best way to cope with this is to connect to our higher Self. Becoming familiar with your “Satnam,” or true identity, can help mitigate the doubt and judgement that may happen when fractals start to come into your experience. She recommended that we choose a time to connect with our true self - to be still, silent, and quiet. Early in the morning would be best since there would be less distractions.

Plugging into your higher Self can be a powerful tool in your life, as you make decisions and choices. This is because your higher Self will have a more complete and AUTHENTIC view of what path to take or what to do. The Soul will have its own ideas of what it wants to express and experience that will likely be different from what we have been programmed to want out of life.

She continued saying that our Higher Self always has the map to get us where we are going. This is why it is so critical to find out who you are before making choices. The more you know your whole self, the more connected you will be, and the easier it will be to know the right next step in your life.

I don’t know about you, but this is new information. Personally, I am trying to connect to my higher Self on a regular basis and live a more authentic life. But I am not always successful. So Sarai’s following comment was so loving and nurturing: she said “Do not judge your emotions as they come up. Do not judge yourself for living in an inauthentic way.” Instead, Sarai recommended that we give thanks for seeing this inauthenticity (since most of us do not even realize this usually) and simply, make a different deliberate choice.

She admitted that living in authenticity will seem like a pendulum - swinging from authenticity to inauthenticity. This pendulum swing is a good thing, as it helps us learn more and at our own pace! (We can’t take it all in at once!) But those moments of authenticity are critical. Everyone is here to be different. It is a gift to all those around you to be yourself.

How I plugged in

My connection to my Higher Self was always there, though it was faint and unintentional. When I turned 14, I experienced my first depressive episode and felt completely disconnected from life and myself. I sought meaning and purpose to make life make sense. I read books from all sorts of faiths. I journaled and wondered. But no matter what I read, it all kept pointing me back to myself. Connecting to myself to connect to God. I would listen to inklings from my heart as an active relationship with my Higher Self started to bud.

The real connection did not blossom until I was much older. In my 30’s, I was in the throws of addiction and a nervous breakdown. I was a wreck. I knew something had to give and I didn’t want it to be my life. I concluded definitively that I needed to learn how to treat myself better. I needed to learn to love myself. Not only love, but beyond that - I needed to nurture, protect, honor, and devote myself to me.

Of course, at the time I was referring to my physical and mental self. How I ate, how I drank (!), how I worked out (or didn’t), how I spoke to myself. But what was budding was me honoring myself, my inner and outer self. This newfound love became my Higher Self talking: “I have always been here for you. I have always loved you. You have always been deserving. Do you know how special you are?” My connection to my Higher Self blossomed when I made a choice to love myself on purpose. The spiritual effects were a very welcome aftereffect!

Since then, our (me + my Higher Self) relationship has flourished. I have accomplished sobriety for the past 3 years now. And as I continue to treat myself better physically and mentally, I have done a better job of listening to my authentic desires. As Sarai mentioned, my authentic desires did not always make sense and went counter to what society told me I should want. The title, money, assets, etc. did not fulfill me. So, here I am striving for sacred service instead.

The pendulum swing is real. I have not perfected uninterrupted connection to my Higher Self or to my authenticity. Sometimes, I find myself disconnected again and hanging out in self-loathing (eating unhealthy or calling myself stupid). But then, I feel the warmth of my Higher Self’s accepting smile, like a mother would smile at their toddler’s shenanigans. I feel unconditional acceptance and grace. Then I forgive myself and go play with my Higher Self once more.

A message to humanity: The Divine Feminine

As Sarai’s message came to a close, she shared that humanity is currently at the point of relearning the role of the divine feminine. Although the energy of the divine feminine is nurturing and receptive, it can also be fiery and transformative. Humanity has much to gain from anchoring in the divine feminine energy and learning what this energy is within themselves. We have much to gain from transforming ourselves to a more balanced relationship between masculine and feminine.

Sarai shared that life is a celebration. As we practice connecting to our whole Self, we will be able to appreciate how beautiful life is and share with others more authentically. The entire talk by Sarai through Karen Bell was full of nurturing energy. She ended on a joyful note as she encouraged the audience’s courage to love ourselves and live in authenticity.
